You can ask MAW to remove video or images on MAW. This page explains how, and how fast we act. You do not need a MAW account to ask.
Every request is by email; there are no forms. Send it to safety@maw.gg, our safety inbox, which raises a priority alert and is watched every day, weekends included. Requests sent to support@maw.gg are accepted too.
Our guarantee. We follow the law everywhere we operate and guarantee to stay within its limits: we never look for a way around it. Where we can, we act sooner than the law requires.
1. Intimate images shared without consent (TAKE IT DOWN Act)
If MAW is showing an intimate image or video of you that was shared without your consent, including one that was faked, email safety@maw.gg with the subject "TAKE IT DOWN request". Include:
- your name and signature (typing your full name is enough), or the same for the person you are authorized to act for;
- where the image is on MAW: a link, or a description we can find it from;
- a short statement that you believe in good faith the image was shared without consent;
- how to contact you.
Please do not attach the image. A link or a description is enough.
We act on TAKE IT DOWN requests within 48 hours, every day. We remove the image within 48 hours of a valid request, and make reasonable efforts to find and remove identical copies on MAW.
2. Parents and guardians
A parent or guardian can ask us to remove video of their child, or to delete their child's account and data. No account and no proof of a MAW account is needed. Email safety@maw.gg with the subject "Parent removal request", saying where the video is (the facility, court, date and time, or a link) and how to contact you.
- We hide the video within 24 hours of your request.
- We review it within 5 business days, and then delete it, or trim or blur it if you prefer.
- We tell the facility within 24 hours, and the facility removes copies from its streams and channels within 48 hours of our notice.
- Automatic retention never brings back a video we have hidden.
If a child under 13 has a MAW account, we freeze it and delete it.
3. Abuse and safety reports
To report harassment, threats, a camera where people expect privacy, or anything else on MAW that puts someone at risk, email safety@maw.gg with the subject "Safety report" and where it is.
4. Any other video of you
If a clip or recording of you on MAW should not be there, email safety@maw.gg with the subject "Removal request" and where it is. We reply within 2 business days.
5. Child sexual abuse material
If you see sexual material involving a minor on MAW, email safety@maw.gg right away and report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org. Do not send or attach the material; a link or a description is enough. We remove it from view, keep what the law requires us to keep, and report it as the law requires.
