This policy explains what personal information MAW collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers MAW, a product of Turner Technologies LLC, a Florida company, which is responsible for your information. Contact: support@maw.gg.
In short: we do not sell personal information, we do not show targeted ads to anyone, we show no ads at all to anyone under 18, and MAW does not use facial recognition or create faceprints.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and date of birth, and for facilities and coaches, business and contact details.
- Billing: payments are handled by Stripe. MAW receives only limited details, such as the card brand, the last 4 digits and the billing country. MAW never sees or stores your full card number.
- Video and sound from facility cameras: MAW Live records video at the courts of the facilities and Studio owners that use it, and sound when a camera has a microphone. Uploads leave MAW Live without sound unless the facility turns sound on in its settings, which it may do only with signs at the courts saying sound is recorded.
- Data derived from video: scores and overlays, clip details such as time, camera and court, and, once AI features exist, calls and statistics.
- Video you upload, and messages you send us, including support email.
- A location check, only at a venue that asks for one: a facility can require that you are at the venue before you record with its court code. Only then, MAW first shows its own screen asking whether to check your location once, then your browser shows its own permission prompt, and MAW shows a "Checking your location..." banner until the check is done. Your position is used for that one check and then discarded: we never store or log anyone's coordinates. We keep only that a check was made, its result (at the venue or not), the time, the venue and your account. There is always a way in that uses no location, such as scanning the facility's own code at the court.
- Device and log data: when you visit maw.gg or another MAW site, our web servers log your IP address, the page, your browser's user agent, the referring page and the response. These logs are kept in MAW's own log store for 180 days, plus a monthly archive kept for 24 months on Cloudflare R2, and are used for security and to count visits. An address that trips our abuse limits may be blocked, and the list of blocked addresses is kept longer.
- Cookies and storage: maw.gg sets no cookies. If you choose a light or dark theme on maw.gg, your browser remembers that choice on your device; it is never sent to us. play.maw.gg, coach.maw.gg and MAW Live use session cookies to keep you signed in, and nothing else. We use no third-party cookies and no third-party analytics.
2. How we use it
- To provide MAW: record, replay, store and deliver video; run accounts; and send the messages the service needs.
- To bill you through Stripe, and to prevent fraud.
- To support you and answer your questions.
- To keep MAW secure, and to find and fix problems.
- To improve MAW, using logs and aggregate counts.
- To meet our legal duties.
3. AI training
MAW trains its AI models on MAW's own footage and on footage from facilities that sign MAW's data agreement. We use no player's clips without that player's opt-in, and no opt-in is offered today. Teens are excluded entirely. Our AI identifies no one: it follows motion, not identity.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as this policy describes. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- Service providers, under written contracts that limit them to providing their service to us: Stripe (payments), DigitalOcean (hosting and databases, in the United States), Cloudflare R2 (clip storage and the web log archive) and Resend (email).
- The facility where video was recorded, for its own footage.
- Viewers of streams, as each facility chooses where its streams go.
- People you choose, such as someone you share a clip with or a coach you buy a review from.
- When the law requires it, for example a valid legal order, or a report of apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
- If MAW's business is sold or merged, to the new owner, who must honor this policy.
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a request not to sell or share your information, which we do not do in any case.
5. Ads
maw.gg carries no ads. On play.maw.gg, only Free accounts belonging to adults see ads. They are contextual: chosen by the page you are on, never by who you are, served by MAW itself, with no third-party ad script and no personal data used. PRO and Pro Plus have no ads. Accounts belonging to people under 18 see no ads at all.
6. Video: who sees it and how long it is kept
- Streams go where each facility sends them; the facility decides who can watch.
- A player's clips are visible only to that player until they share one. Facility camera operators do not see clips players request.
- On the facility's PC, footage is removed 30 days after it was made by default; each facility's admin can set a different period.
- Uploads: nothing leaves the facility's PC unless a player is tagged on it. A player is tagged when they ask for a recording themselves, when facility staff tag them, or while they are signed in at a court, where the facility turns that on. A court sign-in lasts 30 minutes unless the player says they are still there. Tagging is a person's own act, never face recognition. Footage of people nobody has tagged stays on the facility's PC under its retention. A tagged clip uploads unless the facility switches clip uploads off; recordings and takes upload only if the facility turns that on. A clip tagged to several players is one copy, and it counts in full against each tagged player's storage.
- Sharing: nothing on MAW is open to everyone. There is nothing to browse or search, and no link opens a clip for just anyone. A player can share a clip with another MAW account, or with an email address whose owner must have or create a MAW account to see it, or send it out themselves through their device's share sheet or a download; MAW never posts for anyone. A shared clip appears in the recipient's Shared tab. A share is not a tag: it says nothing about who is in the clip, the sharer can end it, and it ends when the owner no longer has the clip.
- In MAW's cloud, clips, recordings, takes and imports are kept for 60 days from upload, except a Pro Plus subscriber's clips, which are kept for 12 months from upload, with a reminder 7 days before so the player can download them first, within 400 GB in total. When that storage is full, new clips still arrive, and the oldest are removed after a 7-day warning unless the player frees up space. If a player moves from Pro Plus to PRO or Free, clips older than 60 days stay for 60 more days from the change, and we email them when they change and 7 days before any are removed.
- When an account closes or a facility's license ends, and only then, its data and video are kept for 30 days so they can be downloaded, then deleted.
- To ask for a recording to be removed, see Removal requests or email safety@maw.gg.
7. Biometrics
MAW does not use facial recognition or create faceprints. Where MAW's AI follows players on a court, it does so by motion only, keeps no face or body template, and does not identify anyone.
8. Children under 13
MAW is not directed to children under 13, and we ask the date of birth of everyone who creates an account on play.maw.gg or coach.maw.gg. If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13, we freeze it and delete its data. Facilities are responsible for notice and consent for minors who play on recorded courts. A parent or guardian can ask us to remove video of their child or delete their child's data at any time, without an account: see Removal requests.
9. If you are 13 to 17
This part is for you, in plain words.
- We keep your name, email, date of birth, your clips and what you need to use your account. Nothing more.
- Your clips are private. You cannot publish them on MAW. You can download them and share them yourself if you want.
- On MAW, you share a clip by typing the exact email of the account you choose. There is no search and no list of people.
- An adult can share a clip with you only after you allow that person.
- If someone shares a clip you are tagged in, the person they share it with can only watch it: no download, no sharing it on, and your name is hidden. You can switch on "stop others sharing clips I'm in", which ends those shares.
- We sell nothing to you, and we never sell your information. You see no ads.
- You can see, correct or delete your information. Ask at support@maw.gg and we will delete it within 15 days.
- When you turn 18, we tell you before anything changes.
10. How long we keep information
- Account details: while your account is open, then 30 days.
- Video: as in section 6.
- Web server logs: 180 days in our log store, and 24 months in the monthly archive on Cloudflare R2. Blocked abusive addresses: longer.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Support email: while we need it to help you and keep a record of what we agreed.
11. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, sign-in and role checks enforced by the software itself, restricted access for our own staff, and providers held to written security terms. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
12. Your rights and choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email support@maw.gg from your account email. We confirm your request within 2 business days and tell you when it is done. Deleting an account deletes its clips after the 30-day download period. You will not be treated differently for asking.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is material, we tell you by email or in MAW before it takes effect.
